Joe & Robin | Just Because I Love You | Broadneck Park Photographer

Friday, April 8th, 2011

My sister-in-law Robin is the baby of the family, so I think it’s hard for everyone to see her growing up & dating now.  Last year she started dating a really sweet guy, Joe.  Now I don’t know much about Joe yet, but I do know he possesses these great qualities:  he watches the same TV shows as me, he runs to clear his mind (like me), he’s in the Army, and he thinks Robin is super awesome.  Those pretty much make him a good guy.  Well, he & Robin will be starting the long-distance thing since the Army has called him away for a while.  And before they swept him down south, we headed out to Broadneck park for some casual “Just Because” photos of the two of them.  As Robin said, I take better photos than a cell phone, so she asked me.  Thanks Robin.  I like to think I blow a cell phone out of the water, but not to get cocky….

On to their photos!

And Rita’s Italian Ice, you are welcome to contact me for licensing to this super awesome pic by your store.  I’m thinking your new slogan can be “Ice. Custard. Love.”

My sister came along in my life when I was almost 7 years old.  She kicked me out of the “baby” role & stole my spotlight with her brown curly hair & beautiful blue eyes.  And I LOVE her!  Maggie hates hates hates when I share her business with anyone, so I’ll be vague, but I have to share with you how proud I am of her & how much I just love her.  Now don’t get me wrong…she is annoying, steals my clothes, doesn’t return my phone calls, talks incessantly, and STOLE my role as the baby in the family.  Yet, she is my sister and she has been through some tough stuff in her short 22 years.  But lately, I have seen a fortitude & determination in her life that makes me smile.  She wants to be a good mother to her dear, sweet Leah.  She wants to work.  She wants to make her way in this world.  She wants to be self sufficient.  Wanting is one thing…doing is another, and lately, I have seen Maggie doing.  So, to honor her (& because I’m the worst gift-giver ever & all I know how to give is photographs), I stole her daughter today for a mini photo session.  Yes, it did benefit me to parade my niece around in tutu’s and feather boas and make her cry, but it is also my gift to Maggie.  Leah is her world, her constant, & her reason for trying to be better.  These photos of her little love were what I felt would speak to her the most…that, and an iPod.  And I’m really bad at secrets, and I’m not technically supposed to be giving Maggie this gift until Leah’s 1st birthday in November, but, like I said, I’m really bad at secrets & can’t wait!!!!  And MAJOR MAJOR props go out to my partners in secrecy Ashley (my sister-in law) & my mom, Susan.  Ashley made so many faces, did so many noises, dances, and other crazy things to get Leah looking at me.  And Mom, you were great watching the 4 other grand kids & helping with numerous outfit changes…oh yeah, and lying to Maggie about what we were doing!  Thank you both!  Here is Leah Beth…..

The Hess Family

Monday, August 10th, 2009

I think I’ve said it before, but Michele & her daughter Emerson were my first ever “official” photo session waaaaaaay back when Emerson was just 6 months old.  Well, Emerson is closely approaching 3 and is now a big sister!

Michele contacted me back in May when I was having my Avon Walk for the Cure Photo Fundraiser.  She really wanted to participate, but wasn’t able to have her session until this past July.  Of course I said YES!  I was so excited to get to reconnect with Emerson and meet the newest Hess, Mackenzie.  These girls are not only beautiful, but so much fun!  Emerson has this cool face called “crazy eyes” that made me laugh so hard I couldn’t snap a photo at first.  And Mackenzie may only be a little one, but she certainly knows how to avoid the camera.  Every time I’d try to photograph her straight on she conveniently moved in a new direction.  Good thing I brought Skittles, lollipops, and my Elmo doll.  As soon as I busted those out I had their attention.

Here are Darren, Michele, Emerson, & Mackenzie….

My niece, Leah

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

My dad and sister, Maggie, came over to snap some more pictures of Maggie’s 4-month-old daughter, Leah.  It was probably the worst time of day as far as lighting goes, but it was definitely one of Leah’s best times.  She kept cooing and giggling and make some cutesy expressions as my dad tickled her belly.  Here are some of her little baby faces.  (Oh, and for those relatives of Leah’s who are out of town, you can click here to see all of the photos of her from in the belly to now.  This is where I’ll keep adding her pictures.)

Bubble Time

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

(sorry for those of you who read our Family Blog…these photos repeat)

While there is about 6 or more inches of snow outside right now, we did have one semi-warm day last week.  The girlies and myself took advantage of it and went outside to play with some bubbles.  The last time Emma, my oldest, blew bubbles, she wasn’t very good.  In fact, she got super frustrated so we purched one of those automatic bubble blowers from Target that looked like a hippo.  It has since died, and Emma wanted to try blowing bubbles the real way this year.  She did a pretty good job.  Brooke, on the other hand, didn’t even try to blow and at times seemed afraid of the bubbles.  However, like in everything else, she began to copy her big sister and laugh & chase the bubbles after a while.  Here they are enjoying their day!  Now you can feel sorry for the three of us stuck inside, especially if you are reading from an area that has more spring-like weather!
