Doris Pearl Emrich | A celebration of the good life

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

When this song popped on the radio yesterday, I KNEW it reminded me of Nanna.  Nanna is my husband’s grandmother, Doris.  She recently passed away peacefully in her sleep & is now walking the streets of gold.  She will be sorely missed, but she really did live a good life.  As Josh’s cousin Jeff said at her memorial luncheon, Nanna barely had more than $5 in her pocked at any given time – but that $5 was yours, no questions asked.  She loved to love, to talk, to cook, and to fill bellies.  She made too much food, always.  She talked too much.  She was always right.  She had a good life.  Ask any of her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, or 13 great-grandchildren.  We love you Nanna.

2010: Image 61 – Packing

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

There’s really not any great way to make this photo “artsy.”  It’s just my luggage, my life for the next two weeks.  I’m finally finished packing for Ethiopia.  I have my Pelican case with all my camera gear, my carry-on back pack with the essentials, and my check bag with everything else I could squeeze.  Ethiopia….here I come!
