Ice Cream Sandwiches – Sroka Style | Arnold, Maryland Photographer – not a chef

We were bored last week at some point & decided to create a little in the kitchen. My girls love cooking & baking, and this was easy enough for everyone to help.

Gather your ingredients: Ice cream, Nilla Wafers, and chocolate syrup – because Brookie said they can’t be ice cream sandwiches unless they are chocolate.

Make the ice cream chocolate….

Lay out some Nilla Wafers, upside down, on wax paper or foil, or anything that doesn’t require mommy to wipe down the counters afterwards.

Put a dollop of ice cream on every other wafer. This is a good place to make a….PATTERN! Gotta keep those kindergarten math skills going! Put the tops on next.

Re-freeze the treats for a while. Maybe clean up your mess while you wait!

Eat & enjoy! And if you’re lactose intolerant, like moi, watch & drool!

I admit, I didn’t shoot a photograph two days ago, but I did shoot a video. So, since it’s my 365, I’m adding my video. I think it’s cuteness makes up for it not being a still picture – sometimes motion is good!

I gave the girls a treat of chocolate ice cream tonight, and, as usual, Brooke ends up with most of it on her face & the table. Before she went to bed, I told her we needed to look in the mirror and clean her face. She wanted to get up tall enough to see. Once she saw that chocolate mess on her face, she got very giddy & started making faces in the mirror. I even have a little video of this too! She is so silly!

2010: Image 12 – Ice Cream

This has to be a quick post because….drum roll…Josh & I get a date tonight! AHHHH! So exciting! And I have to get the girls ready and out the door in 30 minutes.

Anyways…this photo is from our lunch trip to McDonald’s in Arnold today. They apparently give out kiddie cones for free which I think is pretty nice of them. I’m glad they had them too because it was what I used as leverage to get Brooke to stop talking & eat! As you can see, my girls LOVE ice cream! (I think they get that from me) Thanks McDonald’s!

(PS – we are going to see AVATAR in a 3D XD theater at Arundel Mills – Josh says its the BEST one to see it in, besides IMAX. I’ll let you know what we think)

Images I looked at: Honestly, I’ve only looked at my own! I’m editing about 200+ little kids head shots for a special surprise project that I can’t talk about & I’m awful at keeping secrets & I really just need to blab to someone, but I can’t! So, hopefully once the project is unveiled, I can share with y’all! (shhh…but maybe if you ask me personally I can tell you, or not) Anyway, looking at my own images (sounds conceited,right?) makes me realize that I love shooting children & I think I have almost cemented in my mind that a “Portrait” photographer is what I want to be right now. Weddings are great, & lovely, & wonderful…but maybe just not for me currently. Doesn’t mean I won’t shoot them, but I am not going to label myself as that. I can’t be an everything photographer. I want to be a one thing photographer, and be really good at it. There, I said it, so now it’s final!

Corinne

Okay, let me first start this blog post by telling you how badly my day was going, and then end it with how great Corinne‘s head shots turned out.

First, I woke up with a headache! Argh! This fickle Fall weather keeps my head spinning. I’ve recently been using Claritin D & it’s worked! Occasionally there are times when it’s not enough & sleep is the only thing that can save me. Well, sleep was not an option on Saturday. My wonderful husband Josh went in to work so that he could meet a deadline that would allow us to take our VACATION! My sweet sister-in-law, Ashley, offered to have my girls come to her house for her son’s 4th birthday party while I worked.

Second, as I was driving the girls to Ashley’s house, Brooke’s drink spilled all over the passenger seat & I didn’t notice until I was almost all soaked up.

Third, after dropping the girls off, I began to sip my sweet sweet tea from Mickey D’s when, BAM, the cup malfunctioned, split, and spilled sweet sticky tea all over me & my car!!!! My first thought – WHAT A WASTE OF SWEET TEA!!! Needless to say, this ruined my professionally stylish outfit & I was late to meet Corinne at the Annapolis Mall.

However, just because a day starts out badly, doesn’t mean it has to continue in that direction. And although the mall wasn’t the ideal place to photograph Corinne, it was all we had with the on-again, off-again rain. So while we dodged rain & a gazillion trick-or-treaters in the mall, we captured some great shots of this up & coming writer!

Corinne is such a neat person & really easy to chat with. I’m really excited to see her book when she finishes it, and you should be too! In the meantime, after you drool over her photos (sorry guys, she’s taken), go check out her blog, Following Bliss & leave her some love. Thanks, Corinne, for being so flexible & patient with me…and most of all, for pointing me in the direction of some non-dairy ice cream!
