Emma & Elise | Newborn Twins | Davidsonville Newborn Photographer

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Emma & Elise came in to this world a wee bit early…10 weeks early to be exact.  They just couldn’t wait to share the world with their parents & big brother, Max.

Once they both arrived home from the hospital, I finally got to visit them.  They were just wonderful.

I know a lot of times parents of newborns get frustrated or apologize that their children aren’t “cooperative.”  I usually tell them, “If they didn’t cry, I’d be surprised.”  I expect babies to fuss, to whine, to cry, & to HATE having me squish & pose & move them every so often.  It’s what they do.  The final images I show usually are the result of a lot of shushing, rocking, & patience.  So future newborn clients, take note!

And now, meet the new family of five!

I warned my readers on my Facebook page: DO NOT READ THE BLOG UNLESS YOU WANT BABY FEVER.  So, if you get it, you’ve been warned!

This little peanut is Madilyn.  She was born during the same week as Megan.  You actually met her several weeks ago here, but she just hadn’t made her appearance yet then.

Well here she is, in all her sweetness…

Megan is the long-anticipated 3rd daughter of my good friend & neighbor.  And we are so glad she’s here!  She came during a week when we had an earthquake AND a hurricane.  Try being mommy to a newborn in a days-long power outage!

All that has past now & she is a healthy, happy little girl.  Meet Megan!

I absolutely love it when I get to meet clients & see them through some wonderful life changes.  Like when a couple goes from this….

….to this!

I first met Mike & Rachel while shooting their engagement, and then again at their wedding.  And I was so thrilled when they asked me to come and meet little Silas!  What a sweet baby boy!  He’s a big guy, just like my oldest was, but I like ‘em that way!  I think he was just too interested to try to be shushed to sleep, but we did manage to get him to snooze a teeny bit.  Regardless, his expressions were just lovely.  And I’m happy to say I’ve gotten my baby fix…for now!  Thanks again for having me Rachel & Mike, and congratulations on becoming parents to a wonderful little man.

Yes, this is my hand on Peyton, lulling him to sleep.  He reminded me what it’s like to have a newborn.  And despite the crying, shushing, and rocking back in forth, I was in love all over again!  I remember fondly my girls – all the good and the bad – and was thrilled to be able to share that today with Peyton.

Whenever I go in to a newborn session I say a few prayers that I’ll remain calm, the baby will remain calm, and I’ll be able to pull out my baby whispering techniques!  In reality, I know that there won’t be too much time photographing and the majority of it will be spent soothing the baby.  That’s what babies do!

Peyton was totally wonderful.  I moved him, I wrapped & unwrapped him, kept poking & prodding him, and he took it really well.  Take a look at a few of the ones we captured in between rocking sessions…
