Lara & Jeff | Nicole Benitez Photography Second Shooter | National Museum of the Marine Corps

A few weekends ago I had the great privilege of shooting again with Nicole Benitez Photography.  Nicole & I met at Justin & Mary Marantz’s Spread the Love tour a while back.  Shortly after meeting Nicole, her family moved to sunny California.  And while I was bummed to have a new friend move so far away, I get excited each time she comes back to the east coast & invites me to assist her at a wedding.

This wedding was for the lovely Jeff & Lara at the National Museum of the Marine Corps near Quantico, Virginia.  What an amazing venue!  I love finding these gems of beauty & character like Lara & Jeff chose.  They were married in a quaint, stone chapel at the top of a hill & celebrated the night away down at the museum amongst everything Marines.  It was a wonderful day & I am so happy to have been able to share in their joy.  Go visit Nicole’s blog to see two posts of Jeff & Lara’s lovely photos.

Here are a few that I was able to capture.  And thanks Nicole for letting me try out your macro lens – I think I’m in lens love!

A few weeks ago my friend from MOPS & my church asked if I could meet her in downtown Annapolis for some photographs of her family & in-laws.  They were in town celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary & Mary wanted to capture this special moment for them.  We were fighting the light & the weather, but I’d say we got some pretty decent memories.  Congratulations on 50 years….what an accomplishment!

Currently I’m popping Halls cough drops & smell like Vicks vapor rub, so my 365 project is on hold.  But before I fell to this nasty cold, I was able to photograph my dear, dear old friend Hope & her family.

Hope & Josh are two of the best parents I know.  They have two beautiful boys of their own & two more beautiful children they are hoping to add permanently to their family in the near future.  And while I am not able to show their entire family before their adoptions are finalized, I just wanted to give them a glimpse of a few images I was able to capture.

Hope, Josh, boys, and princess Ellie, thank you for braving the slightly chilly air & eating all that candy I forced on you to help you smile.  I had a great time with you all!

Over the Labor Day Holiday I had the joy of taking out a sweet friend & her family for a surprise photo session.  Kathi is a dear gal who I go to church with & she contacted me about having a session as a surprise to her dad & step-mom when they visited this past weekend.  So we planned the sneaky little surprise & had such a ton of fun.  I took Kathi, her dad, her step-mom, and her adorable lil’ sister Sarah to my favorite new place – Jonas Green Park.  A little sand, a little sunset…what could be a better recipe for fun!

Thanks for experiencing your first photo session with me.  I hope you all enjoyed your trip & all the fun and exciting new things Kathi showed you!  Enjoy your photos!

Last Saturday I got the  chance to meet with Pam Bolig & her sweet family on the Eastern Shore.  Pam and I had been communicating back & forth about having a session at a sweet park with awesome morning lighting near her home.  When we arrived there were about 4 deer with their heads peeking above the tall grass at the park.  I think we were in their territory because about half way through the session they returned with a buck – like they brought their “man” to shoo us off!

Despite the deer, & the thought of all kinds of critters in the tall grasses, we had a wonderful time!  Emma was such an angel & lasted very long for such a young model.  Thanks John, Pam & Emma for having me over.  Enjoy your photos!
